Arizona Beer Week runs through Saturday. Here are some of today’s highlights:
Bell’s Eccentric Cafe
Bell’s Brewery from Kalamazoo, Mich., takes over The Hungry Monk in Chandler from 3 p.m. to close with a whopping 20 of its beers on tap, including Black Note Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout – rated the No. 3 beer in the world by RateBeer.com. Tickets for the Black Note will go on sale at 5:30 p.m. with a limit of one ticket per person. The Black Note will be tapped at 6. Attendees are encouraged to dress in costumes, and there’ll by music, contests and giveaways.
Locals Only
Whole Foods Chandler hosts a tasting and talk with Arizona brewers from 6-9 p.m. Scheduled to participate are SanTan (Winter Warmer), BJ’s (Camaraderie Bavik Collaboration), Four Peaks (new Robust Porter), Sonoran (White Chocolate Cherry Oak Aged), Mudshark (Spring Saison), SunUp (May The Swartz Be With You), Sleepy Dog, Old World, Phoenix Ale, Barley Bros/College Street, Grand Canyon, Prescott, Oak Creek and Papago. In addition, Ballast Point will be there 4-6 p.m. with Barrel Aged Black Marlin, and Firestone Walker’s Dave Walker will be there 7-9:30 p.m. with Barrel Aged Velvet Merkin and 15th Anniversary.
Maui Tap Takeover
Maui Brewing owner Garrett Morrero will be at Papago Brewing from 6-8 p.m. with 11 beers, including Double Overhead Double IPA and Heaven and Hell Bourbon Barrel Barley Wine.
Colorado Beer Night
Flanny’s in Tempe will tap six kegs from Colorado breweries at 6:30 p.m.: Left Hand, Ska, Breckenridge, Oskar Blues, Great Divide and Odell.
