After courting dozens of brewers over the past two years, downtown Mesa finally appears to have landed its first microbrewery.
Joe Campbell and Jeff Bryant plan to open Desert Eagle Brewing Company this summer on the north side of Main Street between MacDonald and Robson, according to the Tribune.
The 4,000-square-foot space has housed a number of businesses in recent years, including The Fiber Factory and Mesa Photo Studios.
Desert Eagle will be a tasting room, meaning it will not have a kitchen. The owners are looking into the possibility of having a nearby restaurant cater some food.
The space will seat 49 inside, with a sidewalk patio accommodating an additional 50 people.
Campbell, a home brewer for nearly 20 years, and Bryant plan to start brewing two or three beers. They hope to open Desert Eagle in July.
Downtown Mesa Association officials are continuing to pursue other brewers and say a second downtown microbrewery is possible.
