Got salsa? My Nana’s Salsa Challenge is issuing its annual call for contestants for its April 28 festival at Tempe Beach Park.

My Nana's Salsa Challenge Tempe AZContestants can compete in one of three categories: individual, business or restaurant. Each category is further divided into hot and mild divisions.

Contestants will be asked to prepare 13 gallons of salsa fresh on-site. Salsa will be judged on aroma, consistency, heat level, color and taste.

The first 75 contestants to register will receive a $50 Fry’s gift card.

The top three finishers in each category and division get trophies. The event’s Grand Champion receives $1,000 cash and his/her recipe will be featured on the menu at Macayo’s this summer.

Awards also will be given for Best Booth, Best in Show, People’s Choice, and Biggest Fundraiser.
