Congrats to Arizona Wilderness Brewing Company, which reached its $40,000 Kickstarter goal with two days to spare.
If you’re not familiar with Kickstarter, it’s a crowd-sourced fundraising tool. People pledge donations toward a proposed business, but only pay if the target amount is reached within a certain time period.
AZ Wilderness had 35 days – until the end of tomorrow – to reach its self-imposed $40,000 target. As of this morning, 138 backers had pledged a total of $41,329.
(The guys behind the brewery insist their business already is fully funded and the Kickstarter is simply to demonstrate the passion of the local beer-drinking community.)
AZ Wilderness had planned to open next to Trophy’s Steakhouse in Queen Creek this summer, but those plans were nixed when nearby L.A. Fitness complained about potential parking problems.
The brewery hopes to secure a new location in Queen Creek soon, but a summer opening now appears unlikely.
In the meantime, you still can donate to its Kickstarter here through Wednesday.
