D’Vine Bistro & Wine Bar in Chandler is celebrating its fifth anniversary today with free appetizers, free wine tastings, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Chandler Chamber of Commerce.
The party, which runs 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., also marks the official takeover by D’Vine’s new owners, John Hancock and Robert Coulson.
Mark Nowicki, who opened D’Vine’s original Mesa location in 2005 as well as the Chandler spinoff in 2007, sold the bistros to another group, the owners of now-defunct Kiley’s Grill, about 18 months ago.
Many longtime customers of the Chandler location, however, soon were complaining about a deterioration in food quality and service, and Nowicki effectively ended up taking back the bistros.
Hancock and Coulson stepped in and are working with Nowicki and founding chef Ramon Rice to re-establish the Chandler restaurant.
A number of special events are planned to reintroduce D’Vine in the coming weeks, including a Pillsbury Wine dinner (April 26), a Scotch tasting (May 3), a sherry dinner (May 15), and a wine festival (June 2).
