Pittsburgh Willy’s, Pink’s owners wager on NHL series

Just an hour before the puck dropped for Game 1 of the NHL playoff series between the Phoenix Coyotes and Los Angeles Kings on Sunday, Pittsburgh Willy’s owner Randy Walters was on the phone with Gloria Pink, co-owner of legendary L.A. chili dog stand Pink’s.

The two agreed to a friendly wager on the Western Conference Final: If the Coyotes win, Pink’s will donate a meal for 100 people to an L.A. charity of Walter’s choice; if the Kings win, Pittsburgh Willy’s will donate to a Valley charity chosen by Pink’s.

Since opening in 1939, Pink’s has been an L.A. institution whose fans include celebrities ranging from Martha Stewart to Ozzy Osbourne (check out all the photos). It’s been featured in many movies and TV shows, and was the inspiration for James Taylor’s song, “Chili Dog.”
