Today: Free ice cream at Sweet Republic

By Jess Harter Wednesday, June 13, 2012

Sweet Republic Scottsdale AZSweet Republic isn’t located in the East Valley, but it would be food journalism malpractice not to alert you the state’s best ice cream shop is giving away scoops today to celebrate its fourth anniversary. Between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., you can get a free scoop of any flavor.

The Scottsdale shop, located just off Shea and the 101, hopes to surpass the 500 free scoops given away last year. It also will be giving away bacon brittle, homemade marshmallow, t-shirts, caps, and other swag.

There’s no fee to enter the Toffee Banofi sundae-eating contest, which will be held at 5:30 p.m. Just enter your name by 5 p.m. (five names will be drawn to compete). The winner gets a $50 gift certificate, but be warned: No utensils are allowed.
