The Valley’s craft beer scene continues to expand. Along with soon-to-opens Desert Eagle (Mesa), Wilderness (Gilbert), and Mischief (Peoria), make room for Fate Brewing, which is taking over the former Grapes Italian restaurant on the southeast corner of Scottsdale and Shea in Scottsdale.
Owner Steve McFate is a longtime home brewer who spent the last half of 2011 commercially brewing at Colorado Boy Pub & Brewery in Ridgway, Colo.
McFate plans to offer six beers, plus two rotating taps and at least one cask. He says his seven-barrel system will be too small to do any distribution, but he will sell growlers to go.
The 2,500-square-foot, 84-seat brewery also will offer a menu of wood-fired pizzas.
