Sad news: Urban Tea Loft announces closure due to owner’s life-threatening illness

Urban Tea Loft Chandler AZUrban Tea Loft, the five-year-old tea shop and eatery in downtown Chandler, announced its closure early this morning with a Facebook post in which owner Glynis Legrand reveals her husband, Eric, is fighting a life-threatening illness.

“We feel we must give all of our time and attention to his recovery,” the post reads. “Please pray for Eric and our family through this difficult time as his surgery is this Friday, July 13th.”

The post does not identify the illness, but friends says Eric Legrand recently was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Glynis Legrand fought her own battle with breast cancer in 2002.

Urban Tea Loft will sell all its assets – including tea, kitchen equipment, TVs, stereo system, furniture, and fixtures – on a first-come, first-served basis next week.
