Sushi Eye in Motion, home of the Valley’s first sushi belt, has closed in downtown Chandler.
The eatery had a oval conveyor belt carrying sushi and other ready-to-eat dishes around a bar, allowing customers to grab whatever they wanted.
The original Sushi Eye, without a belt, opened in Tempe in 2005 (and remains open). Owner Paul Cho added the Chandler location in 2007.
A hand-written sign on the door reads, in part, “We were forced to close store with personal reason. It’s very unfortuned, sorry and sad and will miss you all.”
Sushi Eye in Motion is the second downtown Chandler restaurant to close this month. Across A.J. Chandler Park, Urban Tea Loft closed two weeks ago (story).
