Ready Pac Foods has recalled 300,000 cases of apple slices and pieces for possible listeria contamination. It also has recalled another 300,000 packaged products containing apples available at fast-food restaurants and supermarkets.
Not all the recalled products from 38 states have the Ready Pac name. Other examples include McDonald’s Fruit & Apple Snack, Snack Pac Apples & Caramel, and Wegmans Apples, Granola & Low Fat Vanilla Yogurt.
The use-by dates go up to Aug. 20. For a list of products, click here.
Ready Pac says no illnesses have been reported, but the apple slices are being recalled because they may have come in contact with equipment contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
The bacteria is especially dangerous for pregnant women and adults with weak immune systems.
