Z’Tejas Southwestern Grill kicks off its eighth annual Chile Fest today. The promo, which celebrates the harvest season of New Mexico’s famed Hatch chile, runs through Sept. 23.
The chain’s four Valley locations, including those in Tempe and Chandler, will feature limited-time menu items made with Hatch chiles, such as green chile sopes ($15.95, pictured).
The sopes have braised chicken, shredded lettuce and Hatch chile salsa atop borracho bean puree and chile cornbread with a bed of seasonal rice, black beans and green chile sauce.
Other items include a chile burger ($11.95), chile onion rings ($7.95-$8.50), chile shrimp rolled tacos ($12.95), Pacific rockfish Veracruz ($19.95), and chicken and crab rellenos ($13.95-$15.95).
There’s even a grilled banana cream pie ($6.95) with Hatch chile and coconut custard layered with white chocolate and grilled bananas and drizzled with Patron XO caramel sauce.
A dollar from every Hatch entree will be donated to Phoenix’s Sojourner Center, the largest domestic violence shelter.
