Friday: ‘Verde Day’ specials at Someburros

Update 9/14/12: Someburros has decided to extend its Verde Days for an entire week through Friday, Sept. 21.

On Friday, local fast-casual Mexican chain Someburros will celebrate recent “green” initiatives at its five restaurants.

“Verde Day” specials will include $3 green chile burritos and $5 green chile chimichangas all day.

Someburros recently replaced disposable styrofoam cups and plates and plastic utensils with washable, reusable porcelain plates, metal utensils and hard plastic cups.

The chain says the move will save 1.5 million cups, 1.7 million plates and 2 million forks and knives from going into landfills annually.

(The original Tempe location, which is being remodeled, hasn’t made the switch quite yet, but still is offering the Friday deals.)

Someburros also has a location in Chandler and two in Gilbert.
