Now open: Boss Hogg’s Saloon in Tempe

Tonight is the grand opening of Boss Hogg’s Saloon, the newest venture by the group of guys behind Humble Pie, The Living Room, and The Sushi Room.

And while their previous restaurant concepts skew toward older, laid-back, upper-end demos, Boss Hogg’s is something very different: a good, old-fashioned college bar.

Located across the street from Sun Devil Stadium, Boss Hogg’s takes over the former College Dropouts second-story space on College between Fifth and Sixth streets in Tempe.

The 4,800-square-foot venue – which bills itself as a country-rock, dance-on-the-bar, “Coyote Ugly” kind of place – offers a full bar, including 29 beers in cans, as well as liquor to go. There is no food.

There are 28 big-screen TVs and a 50-seat back patio.

Boss Hogg’s is open 4 p.m.-2 a.m. daily.
