SanTan Brewing is going where no Arizona brewery has gone before: A series of canned seasonal beers. And first up will be a newcomer called Rail Slide, an imperial spiced ale (8.1% ABV) that will debut on taps and in cans Nov. 1.
“Our seasonal brews are in high demand so we’ve decided it’s high time we made them as available as our core brews,†SanTan owner and head brewmaster Anthony Canecchia says.
The downtown Chandler microbrewery already offers four of its every-day beers – Devil’s Ale pale ale, HefeWeizen wheat, Epicenter amber ale, and Hop Shock IPA – in cans.
Rail Slide may sound similar to SanTan’s popular seasonal Winter Warmer, an English strong ale released in December, but Canecchia points out the latter features “tons of honey, plus ginger, plus roasted malt.” It also has a higher ABV (around 10%).
Fans will be disappointed to learn Winter Warmer will not be canned – at least not this year. After Rail Slide, the next seasonal headed for cans will be Sex Panther imperial chocolate porter in January, Canecchia says.
