The lights are on, but nobody’s home. That’s an apt description of Blondie’s Sports Bar in downtown Tempe – it’s still lit up at night on the southeast corner of Mill and Fifth but closed last week, according to New Times’ Benjamin Leatherman (see his story).
The cheerleader-themed sports bar, a spinoff of the Las Vegas original, opened just over two years ago. Now the 50-plus TVs and bottles of liquor are gone, although the club has posted no notices on its website or Facebook.
As one disappointed person points out on the latter: “I wish I could find out about Blondies closing in another way than checking the facebook. You know, since I have worked there for over a year.”
