Sunday: Dash Inn Reunion at Brat Haus

Dash Inn Tempe AZ

At 6 p.m. Sunday, Brat Haus in Scottsdale will host a tribute to the Dash Inn, an iconic ASU hangout from the 1970s to the ’90s. Former staffers and patrons are invited to drop by and reminisce about the long-gone Tempe restaurant.

What’s the connection? Dash Inn owner Dave Andrea is now managing partner of the recently opened Brat Haus. And with ASU homecoming this weekend, he figures many of the Dash’s old customers – 1,800+ swap memories on a Facebook fan page – will be back in town.

The Dash Inn, which was adjacent to the equally popular Vine Tavern on Apache near Rural, served basic Mexican fare. But it probably was better known as the go-to spot for ASU students to get an inexpensive buzz going before heading out to pricier nightlife venues.

Thus was borne it’s unofficial motto – “Dash Inn, Stumble Out.”

The food, however, was better than you might expect, and the Brat Haus will be offering a $10 all-you-can-eat buffet of Dash favorites, including cheese enchiladas, chicken tacos, and chimichangas. A copy of the Dash recipe book will be handed out at the end of the night.
