Apparently, saloons are the new gastropubs, at least in Chandler.
Last week I broke the news about the just-opened Spurs Saloon and the soon-to-open Whiskey Rose Saloon.
Now you can add Speakeasy Saloon & Grill, which launched over the weekend.
Billed as a steakhouse and dance club, Speakeasy takes over the large building on the northeast corner of I-10 and Chandler Boulevard.
It formerly was occupied by Sizzler, Damon’s, and, most recently, Villalpando’s Mexican Restaurant.
The 6,325-square-foot restaurant – not counting the new southside patio – seats more than 150. Also new is a stage for live music.
Speakeasy’s bone-in ribeye and Speakeasy’s Special Spaghetti are house specialities. Other entrees range from pork osso bucco to beef Wellington to Cornish game hen.
Desserts include cherries jubilee, pecan truffle chocolate tart, and banana flambé.
Speakeasy is open for dinner Monday through Saturday.
