Confirming one of the worst-kept secrets in town, SanTan Brewing has officially announced it is opening a second production facility in Chandler.
The 35,000-square-foot warehouse and brewing center on Warner Road just east of Arizona Avenue will allow SanTan to distribute both regionally and nationally.
SanTan plans to invest $6 million into the new location, where a 50-barrel system will have the capacity to brew and can more than 500,000 cases of beer a year.
SanTan, which opened in 2007, currently cans four of its “core” beers – Devil’s Ale, HefeWeizen Wheat, Epicenter Amber Ale and HopShock IPA – and four seasonal beers.
The brewery also will hire an additional 25 people, including a national sales director, a supply chain manager, package supervisors and a shop manager.
The new location is expected to be operating by May. The original downtown Chandler brew pub will be dubbed “SanTan Laboratory,†producing small batches, limited releases and specialty beers.
SanTan has not decided whether to include a taproom at the new facility.
