Just two days until the opening of Sleepy Dog Bistro in Gilbert, and we finally have a menu to peruse. The fare will seem familiar to patrons of D’Vine Bistro, the Tempe brewery’s partners in the new location.
Appetizers are dominated by three kinds of tacos (green chile pork, battered Vietnamese catfish, or chicken and mole) and five types of “brewshetta” (Caprese, chorizo, portobello, turkcy and bacon, and brie with cranberry-apple chutney). The former are $8 for three, the latter $10 for an order for two people.
Three salads (beet, Caesar, and pear and almond) ranges from $8-$10.
There are three half-pound burgers: Caprese (tomato and mozzarella, $11), East Valley (pepperjack, bacon, jalapenos, $11), and Big Onion (aged cheddar and onion rings, $12). Black bean versions are available for vegetarians.
The sandwiches are BBQ pork ($10), chicken breast ($9), portobello ($9), and a bratwurst ($10). Like the burgers, all include regular fries or sweet potato fries.
At $20 and $17, respectively, a strip steak and a bone-in pork chop are the most expensive items on the menu. Other entrees: Green chile mac ‘n’ cheese ($8), roasted chicken with milk stout mole ($14), and shrimp satay ($14).
Sleepy Dog will provide the beers for six of the 16 taps; the rest will be rotating “guest” beers.
