Chandler’s St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church hosts its twice-a-year A Taste of Greece this weekend, three days of Greek food, dance and fun.
You don’t have to be Greek to enjoy delicious foods like dolmathes (grape leaves stuffed with ground beef and rice), spanakopita (filo dough filled with spinach and cheeses), souvlakia (shish kabobs), and pastitsio (Greek lasagna).
Dessert lovers can indulge in treats like baklava (filo dough filled with nuts and spices), kourabiedes (shortbread-like cookies), and loukoumades (pastry puffs with honey and cinnamon).
A mini “Greek village” also will include Greek imports (jewelry, CDs, books, etc.), live Greek music, folk dancing, kids activities, and more.
St. Katherine’s is located on Dobson, just south of Elliot. Festival hours are 5-10 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is $3, but you can get two free admissions on the fest’s website.
All proceeds go to St. Katherine’s and community charities.
