Some of Arizona’s top chefs will compete in The Beer for Brains Foundation’s third annual Epicuriad – a unique food, beer, and wine competition/festival – Friday night at the Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak in Phoenix.
Participating chefs will include Kenneth Arneson (Rico’s American Grill), Lee Hilson (Phoenician), Joshua Riesner (Pig and Pickle), Aaron Ward (Brat Haus), Greg Wiener (Top of the Rock), Adam Allison (Skeptical Chymist), Jason Hernandez (BJ’s), and others.
Each chef is given one wine and one beer and must make a dish that pairs with both. In a cocktail party-like atmosphere, attendees can sample all the dishes, beers and wine and cast votes. The 21-and-over event also features a dessert buffet, live music, and raffles.
VIP admission ($100 advance, $110 at door) is 6:30 p.m. and includes an “Iron Chef”-style contest between Arneson and Aaron Rickel (Elements). General admission ($75, $85) is 7:30. The event ends at 10.
The Beer for Brains Foundation is a non-profit organization of craft-beer lovers committed to raising public awareness about brain cancer.
