Everyone’s heard of St. Patrick’s Day. Very few know about Dyngus Day, which is today. What St. Patrick’s Day is to Irish-Americans, Dyngus Day is to Polish-Americans.
In Poland, the Monday after Easter is known as Śmigus-Dyngus (“Wet Monday”). In America, though, the holiday is known simply as Dyngus Day, a celebration of all things Polish.
SanTan Brewing is getting into the spirit of Dyngus Day by offering a special menu of house-cured Polish sausage and pierogi (stuffed dumplings) today. In addition, the downtown Chandler brewpub will be playing polka music all day.
