Moonshine Whiskey Bar & Grill is the newest nightlife destination on Mill Avenue, taking over the longtime Margarita Rocks building (old-timers will remember it as Gibson’s or, before that, Chuy’s) off downtown’s Hayden Square.
As you might guess from the name, the concept is country – urban-chic country, to be more specific. Think pretty, young servers in Daisy Dukes delivering Mason jars of beer. And, yes, there’s a mechanical bull.
Moonshine’s three bars offer 50 different American whiskeys and three brands of moonshine (unaged whiskey).
Happy hour from 5-9 p.m. includes $3 fried green tomato BLTs, $4 pulled pork sandwiches, $4 boneless wings, and $5 bacon burgers. Drink specials include $3 house wine and $4 32-ounce Bud Lights or Coors Lights.
Although Moonshine Whiskey Bar already is open, it’s throwing a grand-opening party Wednesday. Beat-the-clock specials will include 16-ounce Coors Lights or Summer Shandys for 50 cents at 8 p.m., 75 cents at 9, $1 at 10, and so on.
