Los Reyes de la Torta opens in Tempe

Last September, MXSW broke the news Los Reyes de la Torta was going to open an East Valley location in Tempe. Now, the sit-down restaurant has opened in the former JB Restaurant building on Southern just west of McClintock.

Los Reyes de la Torta has two popular Phoenix locations. The original, which opened in 2001, has been featured on the Travel Channel’s popular “Man v. Food” show. It also has been profiled on other TV shows and in numerous magazines.

The menu includes burritos, tacos, and quesadillas, but it’s tortas (Mexican sandwiches) the eatery is best-known for. “Man v. Food” featured its Torta del Rey made with ham, melted cheese, pork sirloin, breaded beef, sausage, chorizo, eggs, tomato, onions, jalapeño, and avocado on soft telera bread.
