Beer glasses come in all kinds of shapes. Why should beers cans be any different?
On May 6, Budweiser will start selling special eight-packs of cans shaped like bow ties, a nod to the brand’s longtime bow tie logo.
Although Budweiser has experimented with different can sizes and packaging in the past, this marks the first time it has altered the shape of cans.
The new cans, which require a 16-step manufacturing process, will hold 11.3 ounces of beer, as opposed to the typical 12 ounces.
“This can is certainly a conversation starter: eye-catching, easy to grip, trendy, and according to our research very appealing to young adults,” says Pat McGauley, vice president of innovation for Anheuser-Busch.
The brewery also will continue to use standard cans.
