Quick bites: The ‘wElvis’ deal, Salut Kitchen Bar, NFL Draft Day specials

Chandler, AZ• Today’s special at Pittsburgh Willy’s in Chandler is the “wElvis,” a grilled PB&J sandwich in honor of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. It’s made with strawberry preserves and Jif peanut butter on buttered Swedish rye. The “wElvis” (pictured) is $3 – or $3.50 if you want to add sliced bananas.

• Los Angeles’ Golden Road is the latest brewery announced for the May 18 Ameri-Can Canned Craft Beer Festival at the Scottsdale Civic Center. More than 70 breweries now are signed up. Pre-sale tickets are $25.

• Three-week-old Salut Kitchen Bar celebrates its official grand opening at 11 a.m. Wednesday when Tempe mayor Mark Mitchell will break a glass on the bar. A portion of all sales for the day will go to the Tempe Community Action Agency.

• Looking for someplace to watch the NFL Draft on Thursday night? The Hungry Monk will be selling local craft beers for just $3 from 5-9 p.m. A keg of Great Divide’s 18th Anniversary Ale will be tapped at 6. There also will be $8.50 Reubens and $5 chili cheese dogs.

• Ahwatukee cheese shop Wedge & Bottle will host an Oskar Blues beer tasting from 4-6 p.m. Thursday. Get four samples for $5.
