For the 14th consecutive year, Joe’s Real BBQ in downtown Gilbert will be handing out approximately 5,000 free barbecue meals Wednesday – from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. – for its Customer Appreciation Day.
Everyone willing to wait in line (don’t worry, it moves fairly fast) will get a choice of pulled pork or chicken breast sandwich, fresh homemade coleslaw, BBQ Pit Beans, and a drink. There will be smaller-sized sandwiches available for children.
The usual rules still apply: Only one meal per person; you must be present to receive free meal; and no take out. No other menu items will be offered that day
This year, Joe’s also is hosting a book drive and customers are encouraged to drop off new or gently used books (that adults would enjoy) for Gilbert-based non-profit Loving Through Literacy. But book donation is not required to receive free meal.
