El Palacio holds Mexico beer dinner as part of week-long Cinco de Mayo events

Chandler, AZWhen it comes to Cinco de Mayo, one day (or even two) isn’t enough for El Palacio. The Chandler restaurant is celebrating with a full week of events.

Today, patrons can enjoy 99-cent tacos and $2.99 draft beers after 3 p.m.

Wednesday, a five-course Mexico beer pairing dinner (see menu) will be held at 7 p.m. Traditional street-style dishes will be paired with five Breckenridge beers for $30 per person. RSVP: 480-802-5770.

Thursday, the Arizona Museum for Youth will have games and crafts for kids from 4-7 p.m. All museum members will get free fried ice cream with the purchase of any entrée.

Friday will be a fundraiser for Ballet Folklorico Quetzalli-AZ. A percentage of sales from 4-7 p.m. will benefit the dance group, which will perform live for diners.

Saturday is a Piñata Patio Party with games, crafts, activities, and piñatas from 1-4 p.m. Kids 12 and under eat for free with a paid adult.

Sunday, Mexican draft beers will be 99 cents all day, and food competitors will take on the Godfather Burrito Challenge at 4 p.m. The first person to finish the massive burrito will win a trophy and $75 cash. There is a $10 entry fee; only 20 people can compete.

After the Burrito Challenge, owner-chef Anthony Serrano will hold a free cooking class at 5 p.m. featuring his Mexican Flag Enchilada plate. RSVP: 480-802-5770.
