Valley coffee advocate Perry Czopp is ready to spill the beans about roasting in his next coffee gathering at Tempe’s Crêpe Bar.
“Three Roasts,” on Saturday, May 18, will be the second session in the Coffee Chop Knowledge Series – morning “classes†geared to the layperson interested in learning more about specialty coffee.
Czopp will share his coffee knowledge on the roasting process and the importance it has in the cup you make at home or buy at the café.
Guests will get to sample different roasts to learn about tastes and flavors, and participate in roasting experiments. Crêpe Bar will provide food bites.
“Roasting coffee is like being a chef. You’re taking an amazing, beautiful ingredient – the green bean – and turning it into something everyone can enjoy,†says Czopp. “And with any food, there are different beans and different methods to get a range of tastes and flavors.â€
“Three Roasts” will be from 8:30-10 a.m. Cost is $45 per person in advance or $52 on the day of the event. Registration here or at Crêpe Bar.
The next Knowledge Series class will be “Cold Brew” on June 8. You can sign up for both the May and June classes for $80.
