East Valley restaurants & bars gear up for Cinco de Mayo parties this weekend

MargaritaA look at some of this weekend’s Cinco de Mayo celebrations around the East Valley:

Baja Joe’s: Two-day party begins with special Saturday happy hour from 3-7 p.m., followed by specials like $3 16-ounce drafts, $10 Tecate buckets, $5 house margaritas, and $3 Cuervo shots from 7-close and all day Sunday. There also will be DJ music and prize giveaways Saturday night.

Bar Louie: Two-day celebration includes $3 14-ounce Dos Equis drafts and $5 margaritas from 11 a.m.-close Saturday and Sunday. Purchase either Dos Equis or a margarita and you’ll get free chips and salsa.

Cadillac Ranch: Drinks specials will include $3 Dos Equis, $3 frozen margaritas, and half-off 22-ounce margaritas all day Saturday and Sunday. There also will be live bands, DJs, Dos Equis promo girls, and swag giveaways Sunday.

El Palacio: There’ll be a patio piñata party with games and activities for kids from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, and kids eat free with a paid adult. Sunday, Mexican draft beers are $1.99 all day. A burrito-eating contest will take place at 4, followed by a free Mexican Flag enchiladas cooking class at 5.

Fired Up Grill: Get $3 Dos Equis/Coronas, $4 flavored margaritas, and $5 Cabo Wabo shots all day Sunday. Food specials will include $3 shrimp tacos, beef/chicken guisado nachos or bison-stuffed poblano peppers.

Iguana Mack’s: Enjoy $2 tacos, $3 Coronas, $3 Strawberry Lime-A-Ritas, $4 Mackaritas, and $5 Don Julio all day Sunday. There will be live music on the patio after 1 p.m. No cover.

Sandbar: Drink specials will include $3 Dos Equis and $5 house margaritas from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. There also will be DJs and live music both days.

Someburros: Get $5 off a to-go Fiesta Platter  – 40 mini burros and taquitos with guacamole, chips and hot sauce (normally $39) – to feed 10-12 people. Orders must be placed at least 24 hours in advance for Sunday pickup at the restaurant nearest you.

TQLA: An all-day patio party Sunday will include a special Cinco de Mayo brunch from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and drink specials like $4.50 house margaritas, $8 Don Julio margaritas, $2 off tap tequila shots, $10 blanco tequila flights, $12 reposado tequila flights, and $3 Coronas.
