Joyride Taco House – the latest restaurant concept from the folks behind Postino, Windsor, Churn, and Federal Pizza – opens at 11 a.m. today in downtown Gilbert’s Heritage District.
Located alongside Postino in the former GrainBelt GrillHouse on the northwest corner of Gilbert and Page, the 3,400-square-foot space with seating for 180 features garage doors leading to patios in front and back.
The decor motif is two-fold. Steering wheels mounted on the walls and leather-upholstered chairs echo the restaurant’s automotive theme. But there’s also a laid-back Baja beach vibe, reinforced by imported Mexican tile and a splashy color scheme.
The menu offers salads ($8.50-$10.50), tacos ($3.50-$4.25), burros ($8), and tortas ($8-$8.50), as well as four house specialities like slow-braised beef tamales and slow-roasted rotisserie chicken. The corn tortillas are made in-house. See the food menu here.
Six kinds of agua frescas – available in alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions – highlight the drinks menu. There also are eight beers on tap, 18 beers in bottles, eight wines by the glass or bottle, 10 tequilas, and eight craft cocktails. See the drinks menu here.
Like its sibling Postino, Joyride will offer a “$5 until 5 p.m.” deal on small pitchers of draft beer, glasses of wine, cocktails, and agua frescas.
Joyride Taco House is open 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-midnight Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday.
