Enjoy Food Network’s ‘Chopped’? Check out Cork’s version tonight & Saturday

“Pilfer the Pantry” enters its final two days at Cork in south Chandler, and the menu now gets entirely unpredictable. For those you don’t know about Pilfer the Pantry, here’s how it works:

For the final week before Cork’s annual July hiatus, the fine-dining restaurant offers spontaneous five-course menus for $50. The dishes are a surprise, left to the whims of chef Brian Peterson (although you can exclude certain ingredients). His goal is to use up remaining ingredients in the cupboards and coolers. The regular menu still is available for most of the week.

But for the final two days – tonight and Saturday – only the spontaneous menu is available as Peterson employs all of his culinary creativity in Cork’s own version of the Food Network’s “Chopped.” Hmmm, I wonder what dish can be made from oysters, Thai chiles, creamed corn, and white chocolate…
