Happy Fourth of July! What, you think I’m a day early? Not in Ahwatukee, which celebrates tonight with Red White & Boom, featuring food, drink, live entertainment, kids activities, and, of course, fireworks.
While the event at the Ahwatukee Country CLub runs 4-10 p.m., the highlight will be the fireworks at 9. And one of the best places to relax and watch them is My Wine Cellar, where the patio overlooks the country club.
Chef Sarah Baer has put together a special All-American menu of hot dogs (with pepperjack, poblano chilies, grilled onions, and tomatillo salsa), lamb burgers (with spinach, mint, red onion, feta, and hummus), beef burgers (with smoked gouda, bacon, red onion, tomato, and BBQ sauce), and chicken sandwiches (with tomato, red bell pepper, provolone, and pesto) on the grill.
Side dishes will include watermelon and feta salad, mac & cheese, bourbon creamed corn, and vegetable kebabs. For dessert, there’ll be strawberry shortcake, s’more sundaes, and housemade peach and mango popsicles.
