Just -released Black Butte XXV, the 25th anniversary edition of Deschutes Brewing‘s popular imperial porter, will be the subject of this week’s Friday Beer Class at Whole Foods Chandler.
It’s the sixth vintage of Black Butte to be released in limited quantities on draft and in 22-ounce bottles. This year’s version from the Oregon brewery features Theo’s cocoa nibs, Mission figs, and Medjool dates, and weighs in at a cautionary 13% ABV.
Besides the  25th anniversary version, Friday’s informal tasting also will include last year’s 24th anniversary version and regular Black Butte for comparison. The class starts at 7 p.m. and costs $5.
