Rawhide Steakhouse closed for at least a month by severe monsoon damage

Rawhide Western Town and Steakhouse, an Old West tourist attraction at Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa near Chandler, sustained major damage in this week’s monsoon storms and will be closed for more than a month.

Monday’s storms, which included 50 mph winds and several microbursts in the Ahwatukee and west Chandler area, tore off a section of Rawhide’s administration building.

Winds also dismantled several facades along the faux town’s main street, dislodged animal corrals, flipped over antique wagons, and toppled power poles.

“It is just demolished,” Rawhide marketing director Laurie McCartney told the Republic. “The destruction is just crazy.”

McCartney says the attraction will be closed until at least the end of August.
