When SanTan Brewing opened its new state-of-the-art production facility a couple months ago, it promised to use the suddenly available equipment at its downtown Chandler pub to experiment with pilot beers. Now we’re starting to see the results of that pilot program.
A couple weeks ago, SanTan released its first Pilot Series beer, Hibiscus Pale Ale. Unlike most fruity summer ales that use wheat beer as a base, the hibiscus flower aromas were added to a more hop-forward pale ale.
Late last week, the brewery introduced MoonJuice IWA, a wheat IPA featuring Galaxy and Nelson Sauvin hops from the Southern Hemisphere. The beer, which has a light golden straw color and a fruity aroma, has an ABV of 7.1% and 70 IBUs. MoonJuice is available at the pub and at accounts around the Valley.
Today, SanTan taps its first double IPA, dubbed “the Big DIPA” (pictured on right). Brewer Anthony Canecchia says the beer, which has an ABV of 9.1% and 95 IBUs, will be sold at the pub only.
