Craft beer bars hop on bandwagon for National IPA Day on Thursday

Thursday is National IPA Day. The simultaneous 7 p.m. tapping of the Wolfpack double IPA collaboration at a dozen craft beer bars around the Valley will be the day’s highlight, but there will be other hop-heavy offerings:

At The Watering Hole at Whole Foods Chandler, a new IPA will be tapped every hour: Grand Canyon Black Iron IPA (5 p.m.), SanTan MoonJuice wheat IPA (6), Wolfpack double IPA collaboration (7), Ballast Point Dorado Double IPA (8), and Firestone Walker Wookey Jack (9).

At The Hungry Monk in Chandler, Deschutes will be in the house with Chainbreaker, Armory XPA, Inversion, Twilight, plus a special tapping of 2012 Abyss and Black Butte XXV at 5 p.m. Food specials will be black butter mushroom soup, a chicken pesto sandwich, and catfish nuggets. At 7, Wolfpack double IPA will be tapped.

At Lucky Break in Tempe, there will be five IPAs: Dogfish Head 90 Minute, Lagunitas, Deschutes Chainbreaker, Coose Island, and Wolfpack Double IPA.

At Flanny’s in Tempe, the tap list will include Firestone Walker Union Jack, Laguinitas IPA, Four Peaks Raj, Great Divide Hercules, Green Flash Citra Session, Deschutes Chainbreaker, and Wolfpack.

At Cartel Coffee Lab in Tempe, they’ll be debuting its FYITM Imperial Ale at 4 p.m. Get a 10-ounce glass for just $3 today. Also on tap: DPA for $2 (10 oz.) or $4 (16 oz.).

At Taste of Tops in Tempe, there’ll be 10 hoppy beers on draft including Stone Enjoy By, Bells Two Hearted, and Wolfpack.

At Fate Brewing in Scottsdale, they’ll be celebrating with American Pale Ale, “Regular” IPA, Double Oatmeal IPA, Black IPA, a limited release of Coffee Black IPA, and cans of Ballast Point’s Sculpin IPA.

At OHSO in Phoenix, an IPA brewed by members of the Arizona Society of Homebrewers will be tapped at 5 p.m.

Other Wolfpack tapping will occur at World of Beer, Boulders on Broadway, Spokes on Southern, Yucca Tap Room, Draw 10, Angels Trumpet, Ground Control, and Caballero.
