House of Brews reopens today with improved menu, more craft beers

House of Brews, a neighborhood bar and grill with 26 beers on tap, reopens today on the southeast corner of Cooper and Warner in Gilbert.

The original House of Brews lasted 20 months before closing in January. It reopened under new ownership in February, but closed again in March.

Now, veteran Valley bar owner Glenn “Buzz” Bezuyen, whose bars in the last 20 years have included The Caravan and Bootlegger’s in Phoenix and Shepherd’s West Bar & Grill in Peoria, has taken over.

The menu features a few standard appetizers like nachos ($8) and wings ($9), but also more ambitious offerings like steamers and mussels tossed in a Dijon-beer broth with garlic toast ($14), shrimp cocktails ($12), and a hummus-tapenade-Caprese dip trio ($9).

Sandwiches include a fried-tomato BLT ($9), clam roll ($11), and a lobster roll ($14). A half-dozen burgers range from $9-$12.

Rosemary-rubbed brick chicken ($13), prime rib ($18) and a Surf & Turf plate (hangar steak topped with strawberry salsa, caramelized onions and mushrooms paired with sautéed jumbo shrimp topped with a Dijon-garlic cream sauce) are among the entrees.

Happy hour runs 4-7 p.m. weekdays and features $1 off draft and bottled beer and well drinks. See the draft beer list, which features 10 Arizona brews, here.
