Papago Brewing is one of 25 finalists in a contest to win a fresh cask of Pilsner Urquell flown directly from the legendary European brewery. Cast your vote for the Scottsdale bar here.
Pilsner Urquell is the world’s first pilsner beer and the first pale lager. It has been brewed since 1842 in the town of Pilsen, today part of Czechoslavakia.
“If Papago were to win it would be a great win not just for Papago but for the entire Arizona beer scene and give people the chance to try one of the best beers in its true form on the planet,” says Papago’s Ron Kloth.
Although kegs of Pilsner Urquell are available throughout the world, the cask version – unpasteurised, unfiltered, no added CO2 – never has been available in the U.S.
“The regular Pilsner Urquell sold here tastes nothing like the unpasteurized, fresh version that you can only get at the brewery and a few select places in the Czech Republic.” Kloth says. “It is so good it would even convert the most die-hard double IPA fan into a lager drinker.”
If you voted for Papago last week, you need to vote again now that the list of bars has been trimmed to 25 finalists. Everyone who casts a vote will be entered into a drawing for a home draft system.
