Tempe craft beer bar Flanny’s hosts one of the most unusual breweries in the world – Mikkeller – for its monthly tap takeover Thursday. The Danish “gypsy” brewery makes its beers at breweries throughout Europe and the United States.

Founded in 2006, Mikkeller is quite prolific, having produced more than 600 different beers. That’s 100 new beers every year, many of which are considered “edgy” by European standards.

The brewery has found a more receptive audience in the U.S., where beer drinkers are more accustomed to adventurous offerings. In fact, Mikkeller just opened a 42-tap bar in San Francisco.

Flanny’s will have at least 15 Mikkeller beers on tap, including Big Worse, a 12% ABV barley wine that once was Denmark’s strongest beer; To Øl Walk on Water, a 14% ABV “light” beer; and Hot Rod Habanero Porter.

The tap takeover runs 6:30-9:30 p.m. See the tap list here.
