Big news for Nutwhats, the Chandler-based confectionery company that’s a regular at the Gilbert Farmers Market: Eight of its products now are available AJ’s Fine Food stores throughout the Valley.

Founded in 1999 by Lisa and Jim Rast, Nutwhats produces two lines of toffee-brittle hybrids. Nutwhats come in six flavors, including cinnamon walnut (pictured on left) and jalapeño beer. Scribbles are drizzled with chocolate and available in seven flavors, such as bacon pecan (right) and cashew coconut.

The Rasts recently added a third product line: Bean to Bar chocolate, made in their Chandler commercial kitchen from imported cacao beans.

Bean to Bar chocolate:

  • Bolivian 75% Cacao (flavor notes of chocolate and hazelnuts)
  • Peruvian 75% Cacao (flavor notes of banana and cherry)
  • Ecuador 75% Cacao (flavor notes of cherry)
  • Dominican Republic 75% Cacao (flavor notes of coffee, raspberry, and sometimes tobacco)
  • Balinese 75% Cacao (flavor notes of papaya and mango)
  • Ocumare 92% Cacao (flavor notes of plum)

The chocolates are recommended for baking brownies, cookies, or making S’mores.
