Sunnyside Breakfast Lounge will open Friday in the former Egg & I building at The Village at Las Sendas shopping center at Power and McDowell in northeast Mesa.
Open 6:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. daily, Sunnyside will serve a typical breakfast and lunch menu, but also focus on freshly made fruit juices.
Executive chef Gabriel Garfio’s family owns the fruit-based Frutilandia at Gilbert and Broadway in Mesa and the Frutilandia/Habaneros combo restaurant at Superstition Springs mall.
A bar has been added to the 125-seat interior, and the family has applied for a liquor license. Also new: a mural (pictured) by Gilbert artist Esen Kaya.
