Monday Night Football matchup spurs Pittsburgh-related food specials

The Pittsburgh Steelers take on the rival Cincinnati Bengals tonight in Monday Night Football, prompting Pittsburgh-related food specials at a pair of East Valley restaurants. Kickoff is 5:40 p.m.

Pittsburgh Willy’s Twilly at Hungry Monk

The Hungry Monk in Chandler is teaming up with Pittsburgh Willy’s to offer a special: Try the latter’s notorious Twilly – a Hebrew National hot dog and topped with Jif peanut butter and smoked bacon on a Twinkie “bun” – with a Shofferhofer grapefruit hefeweizen for $6.

Since its debut last month, the Twilly has received national and even international media attention.

The special starts at 5 p.m. and runs while supplies last. The Monk’s regular Monday specials include $2.50 Blue Moons and $9.99 all-you-can-eat boneless wings.

Lucky Break introduces Iron City Sandwich

Steelers fans also will want to check out the new Iron City Sandwich – ham or turkey piled high with provolone cheese, French fries, coleslaw and tomatoes on toasted sourdough ($8.95 with side) – at Lucky Break in Tempe.

The sandwich is similar to the famous Primanti Brothers sandwich from Pittsburgh.

Lucky Break also runs a “Third Quarter Blitz,” a special beer for just $1 during the entire third quarter. Regular Monday specials include $2.50 Bud Light pints, $4 Fireballs, and $5.99 turkey burgers, veggie burgers, and chicken sandwiches.
