Saturday: Colorado breweries look to avenge 2012 loss to AZ breweries in Lucky Break’s Beer Wars

When ASU hosts Colorado in Pac-12 football action Saturday, the Buffaloes will be looking to avenge last year’s 51-17 drubbing by the Sun Devils. And Colorado brewers will be trying to avenge last year’s loss in Lucky Break‘s Beer Wars.

The latter is the Tempe neighborhood bar and grill’s ongoing series of showdowns pitting Arizona craft beers against those from other states. When ASU and Colorado met last year, Four Peaks Pumpkin Porter emerged the overall winner.

This year’s matchups:

All day, customers can get a pair of 7-ounce samplers for $3.50 (or a pint of any of the beers for $3.50) and cast their vote for the winner.

“We had so much fun with Beer Wars last year, we couldn’t wait to bring it back,” says Lucky Break GM Jared Fenix. “Our customers love the format, the rivalry and the sports tie-in that takes the competition to the next level.

“And since Colorado continues to produce awesome craft beers, it was the perfect opportunity to launch this season’s first episode.”
