Good news for Philly cheesesteak fans: Steakies has opened in the recently vacated NYPD Pizza space on the northeast corner of Priest and Ray in south Tempe.

Owners Glen and Marci Feller are Philadelphia/South Jersey natives who’ve been in the business for 30-plus years.

Glen Feller, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, has worked at some of Philly’s most famous cheesesteak shops, such as Piccolo’s, Maggio’s, Pat’s, Joseph’s and Philadelphia Pizza Co.

Steakies specializes in what it calls “the original Philly steak in a pouch,” steak or shaved chicken in a hollowed-out round Italian roll. But you also can get your cheesesteak on an Italian long roll if you prefer.

Beside cheesesteaks, Steakies also serves traditional South Philly roasted pork sandwiches, as well as other sandwiches.

What really sets Steakies apart from other Valley cheesesteak shops, though, are the desserts, all made in-house. The selections include apple cake, coconut mousse and key lime pie, chocolate ganache brownies, and chocolate peanut butter cupcakes.

Steakies is open for lunch and dinner daily.
