The southeast corner of McClintock and Elliot in Tempe is becoming quite the food-and-drink destination.
The strip mall already houses Flanny’s craft beer bar, VinciTorio’s Italian restaurant, Yupha’s Thai Kitchen, and Mind Over Batter cupcake shop.
Now they’ve been joined by a great new eatery: Fusion Mediterranean Delight.
Owners Abbid Ally and Aly Negery offer a menu of family recipes sourced from Greece, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, and Turkey. In other words: hummus, baba ghanoush, dolma, falafel, tabouli, gyros, kabobs, and shawarma.
Everything except the pita bread is made in-house. Sandwiches are just $5.99-$6.99, and platters $8.99-$12.99.
House specialities include braised lamb shank ($14.99), kushari (an Egyptian dish of rice, lentils, and pasta cooked in a spicy tomato sauce , $7.99), and shrimp kafta (sort of a Middle East meatloaf, $16.99).
Baklava (file pastry filled with nuts), kanafeh (cheese pastry soaked in syrup), and basbousa (wheat cake soaked in syrup) are available for dessert (all $2.50).
Fusion is open for lunch and dinner every day except Sunday, when it’s only open for lunch.
