Two popular winter seasonal beers face off when Bar Fight 5, the final culinary showdown of 2013, starts today at Nosh Arizona gastropub in Chandler.
Here’s how Bar Fight works: Every other month, Nosh chooses two craft beers, and chef Stacey Carson creates a special food pairing for each.
December’s first contender is Alaskan Brewing Smoked Porter, paired with duck street tacos with jicama slaw and balsamic reduction.
The other contender is Firestone Walker Velvet Merlin, paired with Jamaican jerk rabbit over jasmine rice.
For the entire month, diners can get both dishes on the same plate, plus a half-pint of each beer, for $13.95. At the end of the month, diners’ scores are compiled and a winner declared.
