Recently closed De La Cruz Bistro in downtown has been replaced with Margaritas, but the revamped restaurant still is part of the de la Cruz family empire.

The new owner is the nephew of Omar de la Cruz, who opened De La Cruz Bistro in 2008 and has owned nearby Mangos Mexican Cafe since 1996.

The extended de la Cruz family’s East Valley restaurants also include De La Cruz Mexican Grille in Gold Canyon and El Zocolo Mexican Grill in downtown Chandler.

While De La Cruz Bistro focused on contemporary American cuisine like steak, shrimp, and lobster, Margaritas returns the menu to Mexican fare.

The streamlined lunch menu offers five salads ($4-$9) and eight combos featuring burros, enchiladas, and tacos. Seven of the eight combos are $6.25, which includes rice, beans, and a soda.

Apart from appetizers, the dinner menu is even more compact: Three salads ($5-$12) and four entree combos ($9.75-$11.25).
