Yesterday, we told you about this week’s addition of a special Tuesday night “Taste of Romeo’s Euro Cafe” dinner because the regular one on Thursday was sold out.
Now, owner/chef Romeo Taus says a late cancellation has opened up a few seats Thursday.
The weekly dinners, hosted by Taus and his wife, Sharon, in a private dining room, highlight a rotating selection of five dishes from the Gilbert eatery’s regular menu.
Unlike the typical Thursday dinner, this week’s will feature higher-end wines (two with each dish) and some of the chef’s favorite pairings.
Thursday’s “Taste of Romeo’s” menu
- Grilled Portobello: With roasted peppers, basil pesto, garlic, and kasseri cheese (paired with 2008 Chimney Rock Elevage Blanc and 2008 Flowers Sonoma Coast Chardonnay)
- Teriyaki Chicken Salad: Black beans, cilantro, tomatoes, onions, avocado, feta, and lemon tossed together over romaine.Served with chicken sautéed in a gourmet teriyaki sauce. (2011 Foley Pinot Noir and 2010 Clos de L’Oratoire Chateauneuf du Pape)
- Vasco De Gama: Sautéed chicken and Gulf shrimp with carrots, mushrooms, green onions, sun-dried tomatoes, and whole black peppercorns in a creamy curry, mustard seed sauce with bow tie pasta and pistachios.
